Clear the Noise so the Message Gets Through
Last week I made the call to strip back my beloved monthly newsletters, full of pretty images and clickable, trackable links, and just write a letter to the people on my list.
I’ve been doing a course with Chris Brogan, who has written emails I’ve devoured weekly for several years. I wanted to learn how to serve our clients better. I could say I know a thing or two about content writing, it’s my craft, and I love learning how to improve it.
One of the things he’s reminded me of is the need to actually speak to the people on our mailing list.
One of Identify’s core philosophies is we spend more time talking and planning as a team about what your target market wants, than what you want. Of course your end goal is in mind, but we want your clients to engage with you, not be told about you all the time. It’s hard for many businesses to understand. The need to talk to the “what’s in it for me” in each person, instead of talk about our own “what’s in it for me.”
So I’ve taken a leaf from Chris Brogan, and a leaf from our own philosophy, and I’ve taken my fancy pants newsletter and turned it into something far more personal.
My list gets me and my learning. And I’m not flashy or that fancy. But I am a lover of insight, and knowledge and I love that I get to have the opportunity to share it with people who have chosen to be on my mailing list.
If you’d like to have some business insight that won’t be shared anywhere else, I’d love you to receive my email.
I’m sharing generously, straight from the hip ideas and concepts that will help grow your business.
